A Healthy Balance

There are so many benefits to a plant based diet, but all plant based diets are not equal. We have seen countless people assert their “rawness” who were still struggling with serious health challenges, cravings, over-eating, etc. Why is that?

Well, when we dig deeper, we have found that many are not getting the daily balance of nutrition that their body actually needs. When I first went raw, I recall consuming an obscene amount of fat. In fact, when I calculated my daily fat intake, it was much higher than what I consumed on the Standard American Diet(SAD). These raw fats (nuts) were touted as “healthy” raw fats everywhere I read. This influx of fat only taxed a digestive system that was already struggling. I wondered why I was not losing weight and still felt constipated. I found that balance is the key. It is so important to ensure that my diet is balanced nutritionally, calorically and is appropriate for my level of activity. Eating almond butter and celery sticks all day was not balanced, even if the almond butter was “raw.”

I researched and experimented and found a program that works for me, today. As my body shifts and changes, I will adapt my diet to those changes as well. We guide all our clients to do the same and help them find a nutritional balance rather than focus on labels such “raw” or “vegan”, which can feel very limiting. We want our clients to make lifestyle shifts and diet changes that feel right to them.
